President's Spiel for July 2019

Welcome to our third quarter newsletter for 2019.

Our 40th Anniversary – “Oh What a Night”

Well done and thank you to the (175 entries) 168 players and 150 guests supporting the Dinner Dance at Dural Country Club. Karen and The Breakaways headed up the music with a sumptuous meal organised by Monica Rigby and friends.
It was nice to have all 4 Life Members with us, Haydn Daly, Jan Whackett, Dick Best and Ken Sinclair. Haydn and Jan providing us with some stories and how Masters evolved.
We thank our sponsors who not only play our game but help financially to provide the extras that make for a great weekend.
Congratulations to all our Champions and prize winners, with Wendy looking after prizes and clothing.
Preparation of the Draw for the Championships is an arduous task, Davina needs an applause for her efforts especially when there are dropouts in the final few days. Davina was well supported on the desk with Steve, Scott, Linda and Garry.
Nothing works if the finances aren’t right and with Dave assisted by Yvonne and “Albert” we were in good hands with our Secretary Dianne before she ran away. Not sure if scared of doing another State Titles or a holiday, must be a holiday as we still haven’t seen her. In Dianne’s absence Davina also looked after the Secretary’s job with Bill assisting with the website, ensuring information was out there for you.
Special thanks to Rachel and Chris Bartlett from Up in 3 Squash for donating 2 Xamsa squash racquets for our raffle as well as Alice and Sam for their products and their magic hands at most of our tournaments.
Thanks Tracey-Lee and the many ticket sellers over the weekend. Of course after a long rally or two you need refreshment and who else would be able to hydrate you than Des’ Wood. His constant testing of the product ensuring cold drinks all weekend and to all those honest with their payment, thank you.
As you can see it was a great team effort of your committee and others, can’t remember my role!! But I was there.
Well done to all those members wanting to attend the Australian Masters Championships on the Gold Coast in September, your early EOI’s give the Selectors more time to compile our teams.
Please remember you must still register for the AMSA Championships whether you are playing Individuals or only Teams. Details of the Teams Meeting place will be advised shortly.
July brings our next tournament to Bomaderry/Nowra on the 27th & 28th. Mark and his team have the function / meeting place sorted and a good tournament assured.
Many Happy Returns to all our members sharing their birthday this quarter. Some having a significant birthday ending in “5” or “0”, moving them into the next age bracket.

Good luck to all and see those on the Gold Coast in September.

thank you
